Gas station convenience store facade: how to convert forecourt customers into store buyers

How to design a gas station convenience store facade that pulls customers from the forecourt into the store: glass frontage, lighting, product anchor placement and visual communication.

The convenience store facade has one job: capture the customer who is already at the forecourt and convince them to walk in. It is a second-moment sale — and the conversion rate from “customer enters store” to “customer buys something” is very high. The Petrol Group team designs c-store facades integrated with the total station project.

Elements that maximize forecourt-to-store conversion

Full-height glass frontage: full transparency — the customer sees the coffee machine, illuminated shelves, and the cashier before entering. Glass = invitation. Solid wall = barrier. Display lighting: 800-1,200 lux visible from entrance — the contrast between the forecourt and the brightly lit interior draws attention. Anchor product at the entrance: coffee visible from outside, freshly baked goods on display, cold drinks in the refrigerator seen through the glass. Promotional communication on glass: vinyl sticker or digital screen with the daily offer.

Material specification

Glass: 8mm tempered (mandatory), UV film to reduce glare. Frame: powder-coated extruded aluminium in brand color. ACP panels on sides and above door: Kynar finish for visual harmony with the canopy.
